We are inundated with many Bible study websites and blogs. Some of these are very helpful. So, why would we need another? A simple answer is my honest feeling that God is directing me to do this. Not that I am exceptional in anyway. I do, however, love studying scripture and because of my 25 plus years in pastoral ministry and my (unsought) Biblical education at Roehampton University in London, England (leading to a PhD), I feel that I have some qualifications. My other reason for writing this is the testimony and support of friends from around the world who have told me that my understanding and insights in scripture have been very helpful (One of my great concerns has to do with pastors and Christian leaders in high places of responsibility who have no witness from fellow Christians that they are gifted for the places they hold).
This site will not be continuous verse by verse, chapter by chapter studies of specific Bible books. I hope to have some engaging commentary over the present state of western Christianity, plus short (ish) devotionals highlighting particularly the background and setting of various selected scriptural passages. My prayer and hope is for a greater appreciation and understanding of the Bible.
